Manual Lymph Drainage

Vodder Technique

The strokes applied in manual lymph drainage are intended to stimulate the movement of the lymphatic fluids. This is a gentle, rhythmic technique that flushes the connective tissue of inflammatory materials and toxins, enhances the activity of the immune system, reduces pain, and lowers the activity of the sympathetic nervous system. It can be very helpful before and after surgery to reduce swelling, and is among the therapies used to control lymphedema. The most widely taught and generally accepted form was created by Dr. Vodder of Austria and requires advanced training and precise movements.
